Project Overview

The Adam Hiklin Portfolio was designed for a creative professional looking to present his work in a modern, minimalist layout. The goal was to reflect Adam’s refined visual taste and calm, intentional personality through clean lines, intuitive navigation, and standout imagery. The phrase “less is more” served as the guiding principle behind every design decision.

Goals

• Create a visually impactful personal brand presence

Process

Starting with brand moodboards and color exploration, the visual direction leaned heavily on monochrome palettes with bold accent colors—in this case, a golden yellow—to express confidence and warmth.

I used Adobe XD to wireframe and design each section, keeping a grid-based system to maintain structure while allowing for expressive visuals. Lottie animations and hover states added a sense of modern interactivity without overwhelming the user.

Typography choices emphasized professionalism while remaining visually soft. Responsive design principles were prioritized from the start, and Framer was used to bring the static design to life.

Challenges

The main challenge was avoiding visual clutter while still making the site memorable. With minimal content, every interaction and design choice had to work harder to make an impression. Balancing empty space with visual engagement required precise layout adjustments and user testing across devices.

Another obstacle was animating transitions in a way that felt elegant rather than distracting. I used Lottie animations to animate image reveals and section transitions subtly.

Outcome

The final portfolio site for Adam Hiklin is a perfect blend of personality, polish, and precision. It communicates creativity without being loud and feels timeless in its structure. Visitors can intuitively explore Adam’s work while being immersed in a calming, modern visual environment.
